What a year! - 2017 Goals

What a year 2016 has been. As it came to an end I saw a lot of round-up's focusing on negative aspects of the year and people expressing how grateful they were that it was over.

#ForBloggers: Should your blog be on your CV?

I feel like there is a simple answer to this question if you take your blog seriously. Most of us do and it definitely is our passion, side hustle and almost like a second job.

Bobbi Brown 'Like Skin' Foundation Stick

After searching high and low for a drugstore foundation that really works for me, I have given up. The closest thing to a match I have found is the Revlon Colorstay foundation which I actually hate. So, after that fail I decided to stick to high end.

A/W Wardrobe Update

Things I love about season changes:

1: Updating my wardrobe

It's the only thing that makes those cold and dark mornings bearable, knowing I can grab my big winter jacket and be warm, so why not invest in one or three. :) Right?

#ForBloggers: How to monetise your blog

Most of us don't start a blog to make money, we love to write, we love to show and recommend new things, we love to document our travels and that's okay, along the way your followers grow, your readers grow and your blog becomes a little more popular, then there's the opportunity to make a small income (or a big one) from your online space.

5 things I want to achieve in my life

On a trip to nice I overheard an interesting conversation with a reverand. Some of you may or may not know my brother was killed at the young age of 19, the reverand was speaking on another young man that was killed, but this still touched home with me.

She said, how many of you have done something with your life since Robert died, it's been 9 years now?

I could have cried, but I really sat and thought... What have I done with my life?

So I decided on this flight home to think about it and then document it..

1: Buy a home
It's so hard in this climate, but that is the ultimate goal. I want my children to have maximum stability when they are growin up.

2: Help someone change their life
I've come from a background where a lot of kids I know lose their lives at a young age due to street crime. It's my calling in life to help people turn their lives around.

3: Get married
I'm not sure how people feel about marriage in society but I believe it's a solid foundation to raise a family and create something big with your partner. It's more then just paper.

4: Travel Asia & Africa
I would love to say travel the world but right now I would love to go see Asia and Africa

5: Find a career I am passionate about (Or start my own business)
A lot of people stick to a 9-5 just because, I want to enjoy what I do thoroughly and be passionate about it.

I think its important we all sit down and really think about some of the stuff we really want to achieve in life. It's really easy to get bogged down by life sometimes we forget what's really important.

What are some things you want to achieve in your life?

Young Britannia x V Festival 2016

BonitaRochelle

I have been anticipating V FESTIVAL for a very long time now and it definitely did not disappoint. We had tickets for both days but only managed to make it down on Sunday for various reasons, I was only excited to see Rhianna anyway so I wasn't fussed.

A festival isn't the most glamorous place and its hard to find a outfit that is the right balance of chic, stylish and comfortable.

Boohoo has always got me when it comes to festival fashion tbh.

Every year we go we get VIP wristbands, I definitely think if you can afford it you should get them because everything from buying drinks to the bathrooms are just ten times better than general access.

We enjoyed Big Sean, Little Mix and RhiRhi of course.. There were so many great acts to see but the overall vibe of the festival was amazing even when it was pouring down with rain.

I wore this white shift dress, I thought the detailing made it very festival appropriate, partnered with a flower crown because OBVIOUSLY, a fresh pair of chucks and this Backet from Young Britannia.

Backet
 =
Bag & Jacket.

Young Britannia killed it with this one, super perfect for festivals and London weather in general. The bag is a normal backpack with a front pocket and inside compartments, zipped lockers and adjustable straps. In a little compartment at the back of the bag you zip it open and out comes a jacket that is attached to the bag..

At one point of the festival it was like 26 degree's and during Rhianna it was pouring with rain so out came the jacket and it was no problem at all for me. I didn't have to carry a massive jacket with me and I didn't get caught in the rain. WINNING

The backet comes in a range of colours and your can check it lot along with other YBLDN apparel over on the website.

In The Spotlight 002 ¦ Frank Body Scrub

Here lies a product I wish I tried earlier..

Whats better than smooth, even, clear skin? Nothing. You're right. Frank body* is a coffee based scrub that helps improve the appearance of stretch marks and other scars, as well as the general appearance of the skin as it improves circulation.

I have been dying to use this scrub since I saw Sammy (The beauty crush) promote it on her Instagram but I just never got round to ordering it, luckily I received this in my goody bag when I attended the spectrum brushes event. You can read about that here..

Thanx Gals.

I really love the way they market this product, the whole frank body brand is just put across amazingly - it makes me fall In love with the product even more.

That's great marketing for ya!

Basically, I love this scrub. I use it all over including my face and I tell you no lies when I say my skin feels so damn soft after I've used it.

Not just soft.. But like omg soft. You know what I mean?

Yeah it might cause a little bit of a mess but it's easily cleaned.

There are practically no cons to this product. I love it and I recommend everyone try it.

It's worth the hype.

Tell me what you think of Frank Body Scrub..

Get Holiday Ready

If you're planning a trip away real soon or you've been away recently you'd know that as women (or men) we love to look and feel our best especially in swimwear.

I wrote a post about boosting body confidence here, and this is somewhat the holiday edition.

I definitely think how you prepare your body for your holiday will give you a much needed confidence boost if you need it.

Hair removal

We all want super soft silky skin when baring all, I use the Wilkinson razor with the Veet shaving cream to maximise hair removal. You can get smaller razors for your bikini line so you can be confident in your costume.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is important in general but we don't always have time to do it. Frank body scrub is life, it helps improve appearance of stretch marks, cellulite and uneven skin tone. It's a coffee based body scrub and I don't really know why I haven't tried it before. The first time I used it my skin felt so soft, it's defining helped reduce appearance of stretch marks over time and I'm so in love with natural products that I'll definitely be repurchasing.

Fake tan

Even though I'm going on holiday and will be getting my tan on I like to fake tan my legs before I go so I'm not looking super pale when I do get my legs out abroad.
I feel like fake tan definitely improves appearance of the skin and always helps me boost my confidence when I'm feeling a bit crap, because we all have those days. I use the Bondi Sands Tanning Mousse in Dark.

Moisturise

Coconut oil was made by angels in heaven and sent down to us. I'm telling you. It's that great. Once I've finished all the above steps I moisturise my whole body with pure unrefined coconut oil, I'm trying to switch all my cosmetics to natural products because it's simply better for the skin.
A lot of the products we use have tons of toxins and can eventually be harmful if we keep feeding these products in to our bloodstream. Going sulphate and leaven free is a good start.

I am currently in Morocco and this was and will forever be my pre-holiday ritual. What do you do to prepare before you go on holiday?

The Fit 001 - Casually Chic

I haven't really blogged and outfit post since my 'Double Denim' one, I just haven't had the time, nor the confidence really. It's a big deal to put yourself out there on the internet with all the criticism that us women get for not looking perfect.

In The Spotlight 001 | Makeup Revolution Peach Lights

Makeup revolution highlighter review - BonitaRochelle

You already know I am a drug store groupie, the Superdrug near me has a Makeup Revolution counter and I often buy their products, on this occasion I picked up their highlighter in 'Peach Lights'

Sometimes I don't expect much and sometimes I am blown away, on this occasion I put this highlighter on and was like YESSSSSS.

It was so good I had to dedicate a whole blog post to it.

Makeup revolution highlighter review - BonitaRochelle

This highlighter has fast become one of my favourites. I know there are some high end brands that do great a great job too but there's something about picking up a drugstore item and knowing it does the exact same thing, and this product does that for me.

Pro's

  • As good as some high end brands
  • Sits on the skin very well
  • Doesn't make you look cakey

Con's

  • Could be more pigmented
  • But you can build it up
  • Won't suit all skin tones
  • Packaging broke within a week *Rolls eyes*
I applied this as you do, on my cheeks, nose and upper lip. I find it is best applied with an eyeshadow brush, my fan brush doesn't pick up this product very well.

Makeup revolution highlighter review - BonitaRochelle

Whenever I find a great product (especially drugstore) I have to rave about it, I might make this a series actually. Let's call it 'In the spotlight' YES.

Okay.. i'll be coming at you again with another spotlight product soon and i'll think you'll love it.

Have you tried this highlighter? let me know what products you think I should try.

Breakfast with Farfetch at The Modern Pantry

Breakfast with Farfetch at the modern pantry
The modern pantry - Bonita Rochelle

Guys. I am ever so grateful any time ANY brand approaches me to work. It's taken me a lot of effort and constant learning to get my space where I want it to be and I feel like having brands approach me now and express there interest in working with me is just so humbling and a massive example of hard work paying off.

Farfetch chucked me an email a couple weeks ago and asked me to come down to the bloggers breakfast they were hosting at this cute little spot in Farringdon called The Modern Pantry.

Naturally, I rocked up super casual to a quirky little building I pass all the time but never really take much notice of. Inside there a three stories full of dining space, I made it up about four flights of stairs and arrived in a lovely little private room where I met ScarlettPreetiIvy and Laurren.

We nattered over coffee, juice, beautiful poached eggs, avocado and toast *Dreamy* about every thing from body confidence to blogging cliques.

The modern pantry, Clerkenwell is one you have to try.

farfetch at the modern pantry

Farfetch is a global community of over 400 visionary fashion boutiques offering an inspirational shopping experience to fashion forward consumers.

Each boutique is carefully selected and located everywhere from Paris, New York & Milan all brought together by one website.

I ordered a cheeky MK Bag and it was delivered from Poland straight to my front door within a week, and by UPS who have the best service ever.

I really enjoyed sitting down with a bunch of like minded individuals, I learnt so much about fashion blogging and whilst I felt like the newbie blogger of the bunch I didn't feel awkward and usually you find a lot of bloggers that have a massive following super up their own ass.

Excuse my French.

I look forward to working with Farfetch in the near future and i'll be showing you my bag very soon so watch this space.

They have so many beautiful designer pieces in sale right now so why not go check them out and there's a cheeky discount code on my twitter.

Grab yourself a bargain here..

Have you bought anything from Farfetch before?

Spectrum Collection - The Bomb Shell

Let me just start of by saying I felt super duper privileged for being able to attend this event. Thanks to Zaineb over at BloggingGals for giving me the opportunity to attend my first brand launch. It was an experience.

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you would know I had the pleasure of heading down to Soho for the launch of Spectrum's newest bae.. The Bomb Shell.

If you didn't know (and I'd be surprised if you didn't) Spectrum are the brilliant creators of beautiful make up brushes. The Bomb Shell collection was inspired by mermaids with a pink and gold colour scheme, the bristle heads are pink and white ombre, complimented by rose gold detailing. The 12 brush set is displayed in a beautiful shell shaped zip case or a handy roll up case which is perfect for travelling. Which only makes me want this collection even more.

Beautiful. Is pretty much it. The hairs are soft to touch and you can just tell these brushes are quality. I have a couple sitting around and I don't even want to use em'. Way too pretty.

I was in a room full of bloggers and TV personalities and I kinda felt overwhelmed. I suck at socialising so you know I kinda felt a bit awkward but I got a couple glasses of prosecco down me and BAM.. I was alright.

The event was epic, good music, good wine and even better people. (Oh and that goody bag tho)

Spectrum currently have a sale on so head over and check it out..

I have a few brushes from their new collection that I will be trying and reviewing for you all soon, but for now, tell me..

What do you think of the new collection and will you be making a purchase?

Little things to boost body confidence

IMG SOURCE: http://themerrythought.com

Often I find myself down and out about what I look like because I'm not taking enough time to take care of myself. I'm pretty sure everyone has those days where they just feel a bit crap.

I have a little ritual I like to do to check in with myself and take care of my vessel.

Exercise and watch what you eat;
DUH. Right. I'm not saying eat salad for the rest of your life or slug it out in the gym every single day. But I am saying eat less junk and pick up more fruit, go to the gym and do something 2-3 times a week. You'll feel better for it.

Shave & Exfoliate;
I recommend the Superdrug Vitamin E body scrub. Yes! This is good stuff people! It makes your skin feel silky smooth. Exfoliating is also good for getting rid of dead skin cells and increasing blood flow.

Moisturise;
I use unrefined coconut oil everywhere (except my face) it's great for healing the skin, moisturising, reducing scars and makes you look all glowing. Take the time after you shower to massage it through your skin.

Fake tan;
Black girls fake tan too! Yes HUNNY. I mainly fake tan because I need these legs of mine to match the rest of my body. My legs are pale and so being that summer has missed us this year I'm using the Bondi Sands Fake Tan to give me that summer time glow and reduce the appearance of any scars and stretch marks. Fake tanning does serious things for my body confidence.

So, when I'm stuck in a rut and feeling a bit down i simply make some more time to take care of me.

What are your tips for boosting body confidence?

My everyday go-to make up routine - NYX & SMASHBOX

When you find yourself grabbing the same products day to day, you know you have got yourself a routine, and when that routine creates the most flawless look you know its time to share it with the world.

My everyday make up takes literally ten minutes and is free from all the 'complicatedness' you usually get from similar tutorials. Lets face it, in the real world we really don't have time to sit in front of the mirror for 30 minutes every day.

Base;
Smashbox photo finish primer, Smashbox liquid halo foundation, I wear the shade 8 and sometimes mix in 9 for a better match to my skin tone, I have repurchased this foundation three times now, I love it but definitely not more then my NARS sheer glow so that is what I will be going back to soon.

Conceal and Contour;
NYX Ultra concealer, I use this under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose just to highlight. Contouring is all very complicated so I just use the NYX Matte Bronzer in deep tan along my cheek bones, forehead and dust over my nose. I love this bronzer its super subtle and light on the skin.
I also use NYX blush in 'Bronzed' over my cheeks, this blush is SUPER PIGMENTED so best to build it up on the cheeks but when applied correctly makes you look like a glowing goddess.

Finishing Touches;
The rest is pretty simple, I use the Maybelline Max Black mascara, which I swear by! give my lashes as couple coats and then use the NYX dewy finishing spray to keep my make up in place all day.

I'm obviously in love with NYX and my collection is growing everyday, what's your go-to everyday make up routine?

Clear Out and Organise Your Wardrobe

Every over season I find myself removing everything from my wardrobe and really combing through it all deciding what I want to keep, what fits, what don't, what's old, etc..

It's just something that we all need to do now and again and I really think it's a good habit to have.

So earlier this month I advised you all on 'Four questions you need to ask yourself before you make a purchase'

This is somewhat a follow up post, but something you should do before you decide to go shopping.

Like I said before, I'm not about that minimalist life, so don't ask me about creating a capsule wardrobe.

I can't help there my loves.

Focal points;

1: Create 3 Piles
- What to keep
- What to sell/charity
- What to hand down

2: Try everything on
- EVERYTHING. make sure everything you want to keep fits and figure out how you can pair your outfits up. Why not create your own look book. Take photos of your outfits on so when you feel like you have nothing to wear you can go through your pictures and get some inspo

3: Organise your wardrobe
- Group all your clothes in to similar sections, dresses, jeans, tops. This will make it easier to find what you're looking for quickly and to avoid your bedroom looking like a bomb site after finally figuring out what you want to wear.

4: Write a list of specific things you need.
 - When you go shopping make sure you stick to the list..

4 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before You Purchase..

We all like buying new clothes, I don't know a girl that doesn't, whether you shop online, in store, thrift, make it yourself or whatever there are some rules we need to stick by to stop us buying on impulse and ending up with a closet full of clothes that we don't ever wear..

So I had a massive wardrobe clear out recently, but the best part is obviously replenishing it with whatever I need.

I have vowed to buy more quality items, staple pieces that will stand the test of time and most importantly Items that fit well and flatter my shape. These are things you guys should definitely take in to consideration as it will help you to build a wardrobe that is versatile.. Kinda opposite to one where you have a ton of clothes but nothing to wear.

So the next time you're out shopping, or in the mood for hauling ASOS ask yourself this..

Do you need it?

Ooooh a pretty pair of denim jeans, but do you have like 10 other pairs that are practically the same? If so, you don't need it. A girl can never have too much denim but try and find styles that differentiate to anything you have in your wardrobe currently.

Does it suit your body shape and will it fit well?

The biggest mistake you can make is buying something that doesn't fit well, or refusing to go a size up because.. Omg that's means I'm fat. It doesn't! Every shop has different ideas as to what a size 12 is so if you have to go up a size for the item to fit well do it! Don't try and squeeze in to something because it will not flatter you, instead it will bring out all the bits you want to hide.

Make sure you try on items, it's important you are comfortable and don't have to walk around holding your breath. Remember no one can see the size of your clothes.

What will you wear it with?

We are all guilty of picking up something then taking it home only to realise that you actually don't have anything to wear it with. That statement jacket or those statement shoes, make sure you are able to pair it with items that are already in your wardrobe.

Will it last?

Finally! Don't skimp on quality. I find its better to invest in quality pieces (Which means spending a little more) but in the long run you get more for your money. I have jeans from Primark that are practically the same as the Topshop Joni Jeans but those said Primark jeans have now got a split down the thigh where as my Joni Jeans are standing the test of time.

You also want to invest in pieces that you wont have to get rid of when the season changes, buy stuff you can wear all year round no matter what trends are in play.

-

I wouldn't say I'm trying to build a minimal wardrobe because I'm not about that life at all! But I am trying to create a wardrobe where I don't get pissed of because nothing fits properly or I have nothing to wear..

What questions do you ask yourself before buying or are do you just throw it in the bag and hope for the best?

ASOS Wishlist

I love a good old wish list post, there is nothing better then getting inspo from other bloggers especially ones with style you admire.

When I'm bored I literally sit on ASOS and save items i'm probably going to buy in the future. As i'm going on holiday in August I have been looking at summer wear because my wardrobe is seriously lacking in that department. Ya'knowWhatImSaying.

I have been looking for a Denim Jacket (£40) that matches some of my current jeans, I'm loving the head to toe denim look lately. I also need some new denim in general, I'm trying to find jeans that really fit well on the waist and the leg which is hard for me because my waist is quite small in comparison to my huge thighs.

I love these Ripped Mom Jeans (£35) and ripped jeans in general.

Holiday wise i'm trying to look chic AF in Morroco. *Sunglasses Emoji*

This Bikini looks super flattering and would team well with this Sheer Mesh T. (£38)

The rest of my wishlist is literally slouchy and comfortable which is so key in warmer climates, I just want to be stylish but comfy.

Sorry If I keep rambling on about going on holiday, this break is way overdue. I'm thinking about Vlogging the trip for you and obviously taking loads of photo's, What do you guys think?

What have you been loving from ASOS lately?

3 May 2016

Oh Hey May

Flipsake. Cliché AF I know, but gosh time is flying. I know you all feel me on that, but hey, May equals better weather (We are wishing here in London, anyway) longer days and brighter mornings which always helps me get in a good mood for work.

April was awesome, me and the boy finally booked Morocco and we will be heading there in August, if you guys have been let us know what we got to get up too -

My family celebrated my Brothers life, he sadly passed away and he would have been thirty on April 19th - We had a little party just to remember how awesome he was. Do you guys do stuff like that for your loved ones that have passed away? I always think my family might come across a bit weird to be honest but each to their own I guess.

I am now a vegetarian, its been a week and I'm hoping to post a 'What I eat in a week' video/blog post to give you guys an insight to how it is being veggie. I'm definitely eating better and making more conscious decisions about my food. I'll write a post soon on why I decided to take the plunge.

May Goals

1; Apply for jobs - I currently hate my job I will not front. I had a few interviews but have not been successful as yet, I wont take that as a set back though I'm going to get right back in there.

2; Lose Body Fat - I'm on my fitness journey, I have an awesome PT (Rachel) and she is really pushing me, I just need to make sure I'm putting in the work in the gym and eating well.

3; Finish Decorating My Room - I've painted and just need to accessorise, add me on Snapchat to see what the current state of my room is. I'm so in love with the colour. (Snap: BonitaRochelle)
Once I'm done a room tour is due!

In Case You Missed It

For Bloggers -
A new series I started where I share my blogging tips. Want to contribute? drop me an email

So what have you guys been up too and what are your May goals?

For When You Want To Bury Your Head In The Sand

Life gets hard sometimes and it can really break you down to the point where you just want to give up on everything. At that point you think about quitting your job and sleeping for the next year or so don't give up just yet.

- Take a break

If you do need to literally get away from it all then do it, don't mope around in your house clothes for a week instead book some time of work, book a mini break somewhere nice and go whether it's on your own or with someone else, getting away from it all can really help you clear your head and prepare you to take on your problems no matter what they may be.

- Shift your perspective

I'm not saying your problems don't matter but I am saying there's always someone else going through something ten times worse than you. Instead of wondering why life is so shit, take a pen and paper and write down a list of things or people you are grateful for. Maybe you'll realise that it's not that bad after all and you have someone to help you through it.

- Get advice

If you really are stuck and really don't know where to turn get some advice. Turn to a close friend or family member, no matter how alone you might feel theres always someone who will understand what your going through and will want to support you through it. If you don't feel like you can turn to anyone why not seek advice from a professional.

- Write it down (Then rip it up)

Writing down your problems is a way to get it out your brain and make some sense of it. Sometimes it's as therapeutic    as talking to someone. When you have finally written everything down take the paper burn it, rip it up or do whatever you want to make sure you can't read it again. I guarantee you'll feel better for. It.

- Meditate / Pray

Whether your spiritual or religious or neither meditation or prayer is a sure fire way to give your problems to the universe and feel some sort of relief. If you're religious you know the drill, if your not why not try to meditate, you might not think it will help but you'll be surprised.

Sit or lay in a comfortable position play some relaxing music and just be. I use the Calm App to help guide me through meditation.

I know what it's like to just want to give up, but there are always options to get you through.

What do you do when you feel like giving up?

#ForBloggers: How to use Twitter to grow your blog

"For Bloggers is a series providing resources to bloggers to help them improve and grow their blogs."

There are some idiots on twitter, idiots that really annoy with their uninformed and boxed in opinions. 99% of the reason why I haven't quit twitter is because its the main source of traffic to my blog. Actually, it probably is for most bloggers these days.
