5 things for the ultimate social media free evening

When it's totally freezing outside and the weather is miserable there is nothing I like more, than to snuggle up with a blanket, some Propercorn and watch my favourite series on Netflix.

I'm pretty much eyeing up this Ultra HD Panasonic 4K TV for my new house because imagine all the feels of watching the OA in super HD?

We are living in an age where we are all pretty much on our phones all the time and sometimes social media can get us feeling super frustrated and like we are not enough or we neglect our loved ones for the sake of it. What I have realised is that we all need a phone free evening every once in a while to bring us back to sanity.

With the world of tech ever expanding, everything we do now involves our phone or some smart device connecting us to an online world. So, when I'm feeling like I want to throw my phone at the wall I put it on silent do these things instead:

Watch Netflix

Grab a blanket and a loved one, snuggle up on the sofa and start a new series on Netflix. I couldn't possibly fathom giving up TV so although digital detoxes are amazing I'm not cut out for that right now. I am currently watching the OA and if you have seen it you'd know why I don't even think about picking up my phone whilst watching it. Find a series that has good reviews and get into it, you won't even think about checking your Twitter feed.

If you are a blogger, have a side hustle, need a second income, anything! Sit down and spend some time planning. Not using your phone/laptop for research, just use your pure creativity and you are likely to come up with some of the best ideas you've ever had. If you're stuck for inspo do something else on the list and come back to this later.

Honestly, I don't read as much as I'd like too and as someone who does creative writing for a living, I definitely need to change that. Throw your phone somewhere and get lost in a good book. I'm currently reading 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'

Play board games

Who doesn't love a GOOD BOARD GAME? Monopoly is my favourite. I love how competitive it gets and the unlimited laughs I have when playing. Playing board games helps to strengthen bonds and allows you to spend quality time with the people you love

Cook/Bake with a loved one

As I mentioned before I am moving into my own home very soon, I hope to spend some quality time with my partner in the kitchen, teaching him how to cook and cooking together. It's a nice way to spend time together without any TV or mobiles to distract you.

So, when you are feeling like it's all getting a bit too 'Black Mirror' take the time out you need and have a social media free evening.

Your mind, body and partner are all likely to thank you for it.
