Weekly Wrap Up 01

Well... THIS IS NEW!

I decided to add a weekly post in to my schedule where I give you a little run down of my week, what I have been reading, my biggest lesson of the week and links I have been loving.

Basically i'm brain dumping in the hope that you will somehow benefit.

You can expect these posts every Sunday.

This week I have been reading 'The Examined Life' by Stephen Grosz. This is the second time I have read the book but this time around I felt I could actually learn something from some of the stories.

Stephen Grosz is a Psychoanalyst and this book is essentially a bunch of short stories about some of the clients he helped during his career. Each story has a lesson and truly believe we can all learn something from this book.

Since reading 'The Examined Life' I have realised that a lot of our adult behaviour can be attributed to our childhood experiences.

This also brings me to my lesson of the week.

If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen my thread, but I will break it down here too.
There is a notion that men are supposed to be strong and not express emotion, we all knew that.

This week I have experienced first hand just how destructive that can be.

We all need to make more of an effort with our young men, black men especially. A lot of the time they find it difficult to express how they feel and so it is released in other ways like violence and anger.

We have a duty to banish the stigma and stereotype that surround men, for the sake of our own children. Talk to the men in your life and let them know they don't have to be strong all the time.

LASTLY!

Have people around you that uplift and inspire you constantly. It makes such a difference to your morale.
